Grasses are chosen for their growing habits, texture, colour, moisture demands, temperature requirements, wear tolerance and desired height.

Greens, tees, fairways and rough can each require or be planted with a different grass. This creates the desired playability and aesthetics on the various features. Choosing the ideal variety is also dependent on the climate, maintenance budget, soil conditions and water availability.

Selecting the most appropriate grass will decrease maintenance costs and result in the most attractive and healthiest turf.

Ornamental grasses and wildflowers are used to great effect in areas of low maintenance requiring limited or no irrigating, reduced fertilizing and infrequent mowing. Birds, wildlife and beneficial insects are attracted to this vegetation. Thoughtful placement of these areas can be a very positive addition to the environment while enriching the golf experience.
